EZ Lift weight plates or solid plates?
A weight plate is a weight plate right? 10kg is 10kg? Correct.
But is there an advantage to one style over another?
Let's look at the differences:
An EZ lift weight plate is a weight plate with handles. These handles serve a couple of purposes - firstly to allow the plates to be picked up and moved around easily and often with only one hand. Convenient for moving plates around and adding and removing from your barbells often.
Secondly, the handle allows the plates to be use in isolation for resistance work. somewhat bypassing the need for dumbbells and kettlebells. Think lunges, shrugs, snatch, curls, even cleans.
So why buy solid weight plates? They tend to be smaller in diameter and/ or thickness because they don't have to have the handles cut out.
This means they take up less space in the gym, and on the bar - great for loadable dumbbells where you're looking to get as many plates on the handles as possible.
